Saturday night, Joel returned! Hooray! The guys had an awesome week and TRANSFORMED the basement! So, so excited. Joel hauled out 20,000 pounds of fence posts and the 16+ hour drive went very well. I'm told that upon arriving, Rick got out of the truck, fell to his knees, and kissed the ground!
The amazing crew consisted of Rick Baker, Mike Manley, and Brian Tobin. These guys worked into the early morning hours every night to make a fantastic finished product!
The first order of business was.....sleep? Nah, they went hiking!
| That's our place down there! |
Brian and Rick left for home on Friday and Mike and Joel left on Saturday. Another grueling drive back to Illinois. Joel ran Mike home just south of Lexington and headed back for our house. Around Parklands, the truck began shuddering and shaking. Joel slowed trying to figure out what was happening.
That's right, folks! His front left tire just CAME OFF!! By the grace of God, he was able to carefully pull off to the side of the road. Praise the Lord that on this HUGE trip, it happened where it did and especially not going 80 mph in North Dakota!!
The next problem? Well, Joel's cell was dead. Had been all day. He had just been using Mike's when giving me updates. It's nearly midnight. No one is around! Joel prays, "Lord, just give me a few seconds, that's all I ask." He hit the power button and the phone came on!! He called his Dad and only managed to say that he was by Parklands and needed a ride, when the phone shut down.
How or why this happened is unknown. I'm sure we'll never know. But this we do.....God is sovereign and God is merciful!
P.S. Coming soon.....basement before and after pics!!
